Spain Launches Its First Somm Camp in Ribera del Duero: A Historic Event
From September 16 to 20, Ribera del Duero will host an unprecedented event in Spain’s winemaking history: Somm Camp 2024. This unique event brings together renowned Master Sommeliers from the United States with the most prestigious wineries in this iconic Spanish region. Organized by the Public Relations and Marketing team of Exitalia International Consulting in Spain, in collaboration with Somm Journal and The Tasting Panel from the U.S., Somm Camp 2024 marks the first event of this magnitude dedicated to sommeliers in Spain.
Somm Camp is not just a wine promotion event but also a platform for the exchange of knowledge and experiences. For the Master Sommeliers, it represents an invaluable opportunity to explore the diversity of Ribera del Duero wines, gain an up-close understanding of the terroir that defines them, and delve into the stories behind each bottle. This immersion will enable them to become true ambassadors of the region, promoting its uniqueness and excellence in the U.S. market.
The participating wineries — Hermanos Pérez Pascuas (Viña Pedrosa), Matarromera, Tinto Pesquera, Emilio Moro, Pinea, Tresmano, Pago de Carraovejas, Pradorey, and Arzuaga Navarro — will find this event to be an open door to building stronger relationships with some of the most influential professionals in the wine world. The attending sommeliers are not only experts but also key decision-makers in wine purchasing for strategic markets, making this exchange invaluable.
Somm Camp 2024 reflects the commitment of Exitalia and its international partners to the promotion of Spanish wine worldwide. Through this event, we aim to contribute to the growth of Spanish wineries and provide them with the recognition they deserve in highly competitive markets like North America.
We are confident that this experience will be unforgettable for both the sommeliers and the wineries and that this exchange will foster new opportunities, alliances, and a deeper appreciation for the richness of Ribera del Duero.
